In what year did the following weather event take place? In August of this year, a rare twister ripped through Salt Lake City. The tornado sent bricks, glass and debris flying through the air as it roared through the heart of downtown. Categorized as an F2 by the National Weather Service, the funnel left a swath of damage estimated at $170 million. Dozens of people were injured and one person died. This was the first known tornado fatality in the state of Utah.
