JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsibilities for this job include developing cutting edge, real-time web based applications and content areas on weather.com, as well as working on emerging content channels with technology partners.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work within project teams to design, implement, and maintain products and applications on weather.com.
Work with outside technology companies to evaluate new technologies and products, and integrate those technologies or products into the weather.com platform.
Work with outside technology companies to develop content channels in new mediums.
Design and implement custom web site support applications (i.e. measure application loading and server usage).
Research new technologies and application development tools/platforms.
Coordinate all systems integration and content publishing with QC Team.
QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge/ Skills/ Education):
BS in computer science or similar field.
Experience in SQL database access techniques.
Experience using an Oracle backend database from web based applications
Minimum of 1 year programming experience in the followings:
- HTML and Java
- C, C++ or Pro*C
- Developing in a Unix environment
- Experience with designing and implementing on-line content, applications, and/or web sites
- Experience developing for a Sun/Netscape web server platform
- Experience in PL/SQL, NSAPI, PERL, or DHTML
- Experience building database oriented web site
- Experience with Oracle Webserver
- Experience with advertisement serving software (NetGravity, DoubleClick, etc.)
- Knowledge and understanding of commercial on-line services
- Experience working on a large-scale production web site
Must have familiarity with multiple browser environments and an understanding of compatibility issues.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within multiple teams.
