Work closely with the IT organizations within weather.com and The Weather Channel to create optimal ingest of weather data.
Where appropriate, source, negotiate, and implement the ingest of non-traditional weather data.
Ensure the weather.com on-line efforts enhance user experiences and support business strategies, consistent with predetermined guidelines.
Design budgets, establish priorities, and allocate departmental resources.
Hire, train, and coach staff within the context of the company’s philosophy of continuous improvement.
Minimum 7 years successful business experience managing professionals in performing scientific processes, as well as implementations of complex technology systems to support these processes; minimum 3 years in the on-line environment; professional meteorology experience a must.
Deep understanding of web culture and consumers.
Proven success in hiring, developing, and managing creative teams.
Graduate Meteorology degree preferred, undergraduate degree in this or other relevant field required.
Deep understanding of meteorology and its underlying systems is critical.
Strong knowledge of technology as it supports the science of meteorology and ability to assess technology requirements.
Strong research, analysis, development, and project management skills with the ability to manage complex projects and diverse teams.
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with an orientation towards developing win-win solutions.
