JOB DESCRIPTION:
Account Managers are responsible for selling commercial inventory on The Weather Channel and Weather.com. This includes working directly with clients and their agencies to develop marketing solutions, negotiating and stewarding the sponsor’s schedule through its completion, and prospecting for new business.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintaining client and agency relationships - Regularly call on advertising decision-makers to establish long-term business partnerships.
- Finding Prospects – look for potential advertisers, keep updated on the activity of advertisers in territory.
- Travel - The territory requires a minimum of 8 trips per year, usually no more than two days in length.
- Assigning Media Costs - Know current cable network advertising marketplace, develop proposals, keep updated on inventory situation.
- Negotiating - Achieve sales with prices and program rotations consistent with The Weather Channel, Weather.com and International strategies.
- Stewarding Schedules - Make sure schedules deliver negotiated impressions, clear up bill discrepancies, coordinate materials sent to Traffic, oversee post-buy analysis and airchecks.
- Setting Strategy - Work with sales staff to develop effective strategies to develop and close business.
- Communicate Company Vision - Support long-term vision and priorities of Landmark Communications through words and actions.
- Inter-Departmental Relations - Establish and maintain good relations with other departments at The Weather Channel.
- Revenue Reports - Make sure all internal revenue reports are complete, correct and delivered when due.
QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge/ Skills/ Education):
- Knowledge - Candidate must possess solid working knowledge of the advertising, media and/or cable industries.
- Skills - Excellent communications, organizational, listening and computer skills; excellent presentation and problem solving skills.
